The nursing services provided by knechtcare are covered by the health insurer. Depending on their policy, the client pays a deductible and an excess.

If you have supplementary insurance with your health insurer, it may cover part of the cost of domestic help. We will gladly clarify which services are covered by the health insurer and which are payable by the client.

knechtcare bills the costs directly to the client’s health insurer. This means the client does not have to claim any reimbursement from the health insurer.

Spitex services are divided into nursing services covered by health insurance and domestic help. For nursing services covered by health insurance, the costs are billed directly to the health insurer, so clients do not have to submit reimbursement claims. The client contribution amounts to between CHF 7.65 (canton of Zurich) and CHF 15.35 (cantons of Aargau and Zug) per day, depending on the canton. Domestic help is billed to the client and, depending on supplementary insurance, these costs may be covered – we will gladly clarify this with your insurer.

As a rule, knechtcare provides the first Spitex visit at the client’s home on the same day as registration.

At knechtcare, every client may request their preferred visiting time. Our scheduling team then carefully checks whether the requested time slot can be met and agrees this with the client.

We are available around the clock, 365 days a year. We are therefore glad to visit clients at any time.

knechtcare places great value on small team sizes per client. This ensures that a new person does not turn up every day (except where care exceeds 12 hours a day). A small team also allows us to prepare optimally for the client, share information and respond quickly in emergencies.

knechtcare is glad to care for clients in wheelchairs as well. We have trained specialists for this area and are experienced in caring for people who use a wheelchair.

Around 300 staff members work in Spitex at knechtcare, with a wide range of language skills. Staff language skills are recorded in our system, so we can respond to clients’ wishes and assign staff who speak the relevant language.

knechtcare offers an on-call service for clients: we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for visits to clients at home.

For nursing services, the costs are shared between the health insurer, the municipality and the client. For therapy services, the health insurer covers the cost.

For each hour and day of nursing billed, clients pay a client contribution of 20% of the KLV rates, but no more than CHF 15.35 per day with nursing in the canton of Aargau and a fixed CHF 7.65 per day with nursing in the canton of Zurich. There is no client contribution for therapy services.

In terms of total costs, private Spitex organisations are considerably cheaper than public ones, because the residual cost contributions payable by municipalities – based on the defined standard costs or deficits for public Spitex, given its universal service obligation – are far higher.

ARP takes more time than standard nursing because it is structured as a form of training. The costs of ARP are likewise covered by the health insurer. Additional costs may arise in the canton of Aargau through the client contribution, but these amount to no more than CHF 15.35 per day.

The time until the first visit depends on the scope of the services to be provided. For “simple” nursing, the first visit takes place within 24 hours. For therapeutic services, the first visit takes place between one and five days later, depending on the availability of the specialist staff.

The legal provisions require the corresponding qualification for every service provided. Therapy and nursing must therefore be kept strictly separate.

Visits are planned according to the travel time to the location, which means the ratio of travel time to visit duration has to make economic and environmental sense.
